FALL 2017-18 TRYOUTS

The U16 Troy Lady Sting are hosting Fall 2017-18 tryouts at Troy Sports Center on the following dates:

  • Friday, June 9, 2017 at 6:30pm
  • Thursday, June 15, 2017 at 6:45pm

Tryout cost is $15 for skaters, goalies are free. Spots are open at all positions.

The U16 Troy Lady Sting are looking for skilled players to compete at the Highest Tier II level. The coaching staff includes professional coaches with long term hockey backgrounds.

Please bring a light and dark jersey to the tryouts.

Defensive Skills Coach:  Craig Wolanin

Played thirteen seasons in the NHL from 1985 (drafted 3rd overall) to 1998.  Craig was a member of the Colorado Avalanche Stanley Cup champion team in 1996.  He has 15 years coaching experience at all levels of hockey (LC, HB, an OJG).

Power Skating Coach - Jessica Swinton

Lessons: Freestyle, MIF, Off-Ice Training, Hockey/Power-Skating;  PSA, USFSA Certified & Certified Personal Trainer.  Jessica has been coaching for 11 years.  She is a Gold Medalist in Freestyle and MIF, and is a Regional Medalist and Sectional/National Qualifier.  Jessica has a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education with an Emphasis in Coaching, and a Master’s Degree in Kinesiology with an Emphasis in Physical Education.

Head Coach - Joe Reiss

Level 4 certified coach that has been playing hockey for over 40 years and continues to play on multiple teams.  He has been coaching hockey for 12 years.  Joe’s coaching experience includes learn-to-skate, developmental, and travel of both boys and girls hockey.  LCAHL Playoff Division Championship in 2016.  LCAGHL Division Champions in 2017.  Mite-B State Champions in 2011-12.

The Lady Sting are proud to be competing as the host team for the 2017 USA Hockey Girls Tier II National Championship Tournament.  Troy Sports Center will be hosting the championship tournaments for all age divisions (14U/16U/19U)

Cambridge New Years Challenge Tournament

The 16U Lady Sting competed in the Cambridge Girls New Years Challenge Tournament the weekend of January 20-22, 2017.  They played in the Midget A division.  Click the logo to the left to go to the tournament website.  Good job girls!  Go Sting!


Guelph Girls Winter Classic Tournament

2016 Bauer World Invite - Detroit

Rochester Fire on Ice Tournament

The 16U Lady Sting competed in the Rochester, NY Fire on Ice Tournament the weekend of November 4 through 6, 2016.  Click the logo on the left to go to the tournament website.  The girls finished as runner-up in the "17U A" Silver division playoff.  Good job girls!

Congratulations to Our 19U Lady Sting College bound Hockey players! 

On behalf of TYHA and all of the Lady Sting, we would like to congratulate three of our 19U Lady Sting Players who have recently signed to Letters of Commitment to play women College hockey as freshman next year.  

  Captain, Katie Gialloreti who will join Grand Valley University

Captain, Rachele Pozzo who will join Central University's Team, and

Forward Carissa Parada, who will be playing for Trine University

We couldn't be more proud of our Lady Sting player, commitment, drive, and heart! We look forward to watching you girls next season!!
